At evCushy, we believe that sustainability is not about being perfect.

It is about making better, more thoughtful choices — from the materials we select and the way our products are made, to how we package your order and how long a product can remain useful to your family.

As a small Irish baby brand, we don't produce enormous quantities or follow a model built around constantly replacing what you already have. Instead, we are continually looking for ways to make our products more thoughtful, functional and long-lasting.

Because when something is made with care, we believe it should be used with care too.

Thoughtful production, not unnecessary overproduction

One of the ways we are changing the way we work is by producing more and more of our products made to order.

Instead of making large quantities simply to keep shelves full, made-to-order production allows us to create products in response to real customer demand.

This approach helps us make more considered decisions about what we produce, which patterns we continue and when a collection needs to be replenished.

We also continue to produce many of our products in small batches.

For us, this means being able to pay closer attention to quality while avoiding unnecessary production wherever possible.

We don't believe that having more products automatically makes a better brand.

We would rather make something beautiful, useful and carefully considered.

Designed to be useful for longer

Babies grow quickly. Their needs change even faster.

That is why we are constantly looking at the functionality of our products and asking ourselves:

Can this product be used for longer?

Can it serve another purpose as your baby grows?

Can we make it more practical for everyday family life?

This thinking is behind the development and improvement of products designed to remain useful through different stages of childhood.

For example, our larger baby products are designed around longer periods of use rather than a very short newborn stage.

We continue to review our designs, construction and functionality to see how products can become more versatile and useful.

We believe that a product that continues to serve a purpose as your little one grows can be a more considered choice than something designed to be used for only a very short period.

Made for everyday life

Our products are created to be used — not simply displayed.

We focus on practical baby essentials that families can wash, care for and use repeatedly.

From bedding and sleeping products to blankets, baby nests and larger pods, we consider how a product will fit into real family life.

And where a product can safely be reused or passed on once your own baby has outgrown it, we encourage families to consider doing so.

Reuse comes before replacement.

Choosing materials thoughtfully

We pay close attention to the materials used in our products and work with European production partners.

Where applicable, we use OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified materials, helping us select textile components that have been tested for harmful substances according to the relevant certification requirements.

We don't use a certification as a shortcut for saying that an entire product is automatically "eco-friendly".

Instead, we believe customers deserve to know exactly what a certification means and what it applies to.

That is part of our commitment to more honest and transparent communication.

Handmade in Europe, designed in Ireland

evCushy is an Irish baby brand, with our products designed and developed with our customers and their everyday needs in mind.

Our production partners are based in Europe, allowing us to maintain close communication and better visibility of the production process.

Working closely with our manufacturers helps us continuously improve:

For us, responsible production is not only about where something is made.

It is also about how thoughtfully it is designed and produced.

Packaging without unnecessary extras

We believe the packaging should protect your order — not overwhelm it.

That is why we have been deliberately simplifying the way we package evCushy products.

Our approach includes:

Brown paper packaging

We use brown paper where appropriate rather than adding unnecessary layers of decorative packaging.

Paper stickers

We use paper stickers as part of our packaging instead of unnecessary plastic alternatives.

Cotton ribbons

Where ribbon is needed, we use cotton ribbon as a simple and reusable finishing detail.

Recyclable mailers

For suitable orders, we use recyclable mailing bags designed to protect your purchase during delivery without adding unnecessary packaging.

No unnecessary fillers

We don't fill a box simply because it looks fuller.

If the product is already safely protected, we don't believe extra fillers are needed.

Our aim is simple:

Protect the product. Use what is necessary. Avoid what isn't.

The EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation began applying on 12 August 2026 and establishes a harmonised framework intended to reduce packaging waste and encourage more circular packaging systems.

Our packaging choices are part of our ongoing effort to keep improving how we send products to you.

Reducing textile waste

We are also continually looking for ways to reduce unnecessary textile waste during production.

Small-batch and made-to-order production can help us make more considered decisions about fabric quantities and product demand.

We are also reviewing how materials and offcuts can be used more effectively rather than treating every leftover piece as waste.

This is an area where we know there is still more we can improve.

And we believe being honest about that is important.

Sustainability isn't something a small brand achieves once and then finishes.

It is an ongoing process.

Products that can be cared for, reused and passed on

A product's environmental story doesn't end when it leaves our studio.

How a product is washed, stored, cared for and eventually reused also matters.

We encourage you to:

• follow the care instructions provided with your product

• wash only when necessary

• use the appropriate washing temperature

• care for products according to their individual instructions

• store them properly when they are not being used

• repair or restore where practical

• pass them on when your little one has outgrown them, where the product remains safe and suitable for reuse

A baby product that has been carefully used by one family may still have plenty of life left for another.

One little product can have more than one little story.

When your baby has outgrown it

We know how quickly babies become toddlers.

One day you're preparing for a newborn, and seemingly overnight they have outgrown the things you bought only months ago.

When an evCushy product is no longer needed, we encourage you to consider whether it can be:

Reused → Passed on → Donated → Recycled

before it becomes waste.

The EU's revised Waste Framework Directive is introducing common extended producer responsibility rules for textiles and footwear across Member States, with a greater focus on reuse, recycling and more circular product design.

The exact requirements applying to individual products will depend on the relevant EU and national rules, but the direction is clear: products and materials are increasingly expected to remain useful for as long as possible.

We are constantly improving our products

One of the most important parts of our sustainability approach is something that happens before a product ever reaches your home:

We keep improving it.

We regularly look at our products and ask whether we can make them:

• more functional

• more comfortable

• more versatile

• easier to use

• easier to care for

• suitable for a longer period of use

• more practical for parents

• better suited to the way babies actually grow and develop

Sometimes an improvement is small.

Sometimes it means changing a detail that customers have told us could work better.

And sometimes it means rethinking how a product can be used as your baby moves into another stage.

For us, this is what thoughtful product development looks like.

We believe in evidence, not greenwashing

We want you to be able to trust what you read on the evCushy website.

That means we are careful with words such as sustainable, eco-friendly, environmentally friendly, recyclable and biodegradable.

We don't want to make a broad environmental claim about an entire product when it only applies to one particular material or component.

When we mention a certification, material or specific packaging characteristic, we aim to explain what it actually means.

This is especially important as European consumer-protection rules become stronger.

From 27 September 2026, the EU's Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive will apply, strengthening consumer protection against misleading environmental claims and unreliable sustainability labels. Businesses are expected to avoid vague, exaggerated or unsubstantiated environmental claims.

We welcome that direction.

Because sustainability should be something you can understand — not something hidden behind a green label or a clever marketing phrase.

We're not perfect — and we're still improving

We are a small business.

We don't have a huge sustainability department or a large corporate team creating annual environmental reports.

What we do have is the ability to look closely at what we make and change things when we see an opportunity to do better.

We are continuing to work on:

• reducing unnecessary packaging

• improving material traceability

• reducing production waste

• making more products to order

• improving product functionality

• designing products that can remain useful for longer

• understanding how our materials and products can be reused or recycled

• keeping better records about our materials and suppliers

• following developments in European sustainability and product legislation

We don't want to promise perfection.

We want to keep improving.

Looking towards the future

European product legislation is moving towards greater transparency around durability, repairability, circularity, recyclability and product information.

The EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation establishes a framework for improving the sustainability of products placed on the European market. The EU is also developing Digital Product Passport systems to provide more information about products and their sustainability characteristics.

Textiles are among the product areas being prioritised under the EU's current Ecodesign working programme, although the detailed requirements and timelines for specific products are still being developed.

We are therefore working towards better documentation of our materials, suppliers, product composition, care information and other relevant product information.

We believe that greater transparency is good for everyone.

It helps us understand our own products better — and it helps customers make more informed choices.
